2024 IPSA Consultation
The branch campaigned to get staff’s voices heard in a recent consultation on our employment conditions.
The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) held a consultation in late 2024 which included proposed changes around MP staff’s terms and condition: Consultation_Supporting_trust_in_democracy
The proposals included some hard-won principles around recognising past service which would see hugely improved access to some benefits for MPs staff if you move on to working for a new MP, including for redundancy and family pay.
After lengthy consultation and discussion amongst members, the branch submitted its response to the IPSA consultation.
The branch noted with IPSA their frustration with their approach to consulting about decisions which related to the employment of MP staff.
We also drew up model answers to help MP staff to respond, and we encouraged staff to do so through our social medias; door-knocking on the Parliamentary estate, and at the New Parliamentary Fair in December 2024.
